From Florida’s Gulf Coast to the Atlantic Shores of Daytona Beach, four of Central Florida’s We’reWolves and one Lazarex Cancer Foundation employee will run 203 miles beginning July 3 to raise funds for and call attention to the mission of the Lazarex Cancer Foundation of Danville, CA.

“We are very grateful to the We’reWolves for helping to organize this event, running in it, and giving hope to cancer victims who might otherwise have no other alternative,” said Lazarex president Dana Dornsife. “We help patients from all walks of life find experimental treatments in FDA-approved clinical trials and, when needed, we provide financial assistance to help with associated costs like transportation and housing. Many of our patients experience longer and higher-quality lives as a result of the support Lazarex can offer.”

Dornsife also said that 87 cents of every dollar Lazarex raises goes directly to support patients as they find and participate in clinical trials nearly anywhere in the world.

Those interested in helping cancer patients who have been told that conventional medicine can no longer do anything for them can sponsor the We’reWolves and Lazarex runners by clicking here to make a donation. No contribution is too small.

The Central Florida We’reWolves participating are Brodie Webber, Caley Webber, Nick Ribble and Dan Pacheco. Lazarex Endurance Events Coordinator Jenny Walls will run with them.

“Cancer is prevalent. Many people either have or know of someone that suffers from it. Treatments are expensive and often life changing in themselves,” said Pacheco. “The Lazarex Cancer Foundation helps pay for those bills. By donating to this cause and our run, you will be helping to pay those bills. You will be making a difference in the lives of mothers, daughters, fathers, sons, grandparents, uncles, aunts, best friends, husbands, and wives. You will be reaching out and helping another human.

“This will be the most intense run that the Wolves will have experienced. This is a showing of the abilities of the mind and body put through tremendous extremes. The reason, however, is bigger than all of us.”

"I am running to raise money that will go directly to helping give a cancer patient an extra day with their family,” said Webber. “I am running to inspire hope to 'change the face of cancer'. Two hundred three miles seems impossible to us now, just like the thought of beating an incurable disease may seem impossible to the cancer patients we are running for. However we will not give up and will not fail.”

The We’reWolves and Wells plan to complete the run on July 9, for an average of about 33 miles per day. “Our running is an expression of our fitness and our humanity,” Walls said. “The fact that we can use that to help others is truly a gift, as is the Bridge to Hope that we provide at Lazarex.” More information regarding this and other events, along with patient information, is available by clicking here
