Street Smarts Presents the CHP “Start Smart” Program

March 29, 2016, 7:00pm – 9:00pm

Arrive at 6:15 to try the “Distracted Driver” Simulator

Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center

10550 Albion Rd, San Ramon, CA 94582

Driving can be dangerous for teens. Teen drivers are more likely to get into traffic collisions than any other age group. Even more troubling is the fact that motor vehicle collisions are the leading cause of death for teens aged 15 to 19. What causes teens and teenage drivers to be at such risk?

Join us on March 29th to find out, when the San Ramon Valley Street Smarts Program hosts the California Highway Patrol’s “Start Smart” program. Start Smart is a two-hour driver safety education class given by the CHP to new and future teenage drivers and their parents/legal guardians. The Start Smart event will be held on March 29, from 7 p.m. –9 p.m., at the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center at Dougherty Valley High School. At the event, CHP officers will discuss collision factors associated with teen drivers, collision avoidance techniques, and driver/parent responsibilities. Parent and child attendance are strongly recommended. (Note: The presentation contains graphic “accident” images.)

The March 29th event is free and open to teens/parents in the San Ramon Valley and beyond. To register, visit http://CHP-ContraCosta.Eventbrite.com and choose the date and location from the list. Several safety themed door prizes will be given!
